The operation, led by the New Jersey State Police (NJSP) Drug Trafficking North Unit, involved the execution of a search warrant at a residence on Lily Street, near North 7th Street in Paterson. Investigators made a shocking discovery inside the home—an alleged drug mill producing fentanyl. In addition to the fentanyl, authorities found 150 suspected methamphetamine pills and drug paraphernalia.

Fentanyl, an extremely potent opioid, is known to be approximately 100 times more powerful than morphine and 50 times more potent than heroin. With over 800,000 doses of fentanyl allegedly in Rodriguez’s possession, the potential consequences were grave.

The NJSP’s successful operation is the third significant drug distribution takedown in Paterson in the past three months, following the March 27, 2023, supersession of the Paterson Police Department.

“Criminal enterprises that set up shop in neighborhoods erode public safety, threaten public health, damage quality of life, and show a disrespect for our communities that will not be tolerated,” Attorney General Matthew Platkin said. “My office, the New Jersey State Police, and the Paterson Police Department will continue working to rid the city of Paterson — and the State of New Jersey – of these illegal enterprises.”
